SOS pillar for motorways in GSM and LTE/4G

SOS units in GSM/GPRS and LTE/4G for roads and motorways
compatible with third-party centralisation systems

RouteHELP-GSM is a roadside SOS unit, for installation on roads and motorways when neither a data link nor a power source is available on a physical infrastructure as it connects to the GSM/GPRS network and is powered by photovoltaic panels.

This roadside SOS pillar for in-transit installation is also available in a version that allows audio/video conversation as it uses the LTE/4G network for connection to the control room.
In addition to the version for roadside use, this SOS emergency call post is available in other versions that are used in all those cases in which it is necessary to use a completely self-sufficient stand-alone SOS unit.

The GSM/GPRS emergency call station

The RouteHELP-GSM unit can be supplied in a flush-mounted version suitable for insertion into mechanical structures prepared by the customer, in a version with a glass-filled polyester enclosure suitable for wall or pole mounting and also as an SOS post in a "ready to install" version; the picture on the right side illustrates one of the possible solutions for the last option.

This SOS post uses the GSM channel for voice transfer and the GPRS channel for transferring data relating to the management and diagnostics of the SOS pillars.

The power supply for this GSM SOS post is provided by a 10W photovoltaic panel that keeps a battery charged and which ensures the operation of the emergency call unit for at least two weeks in the absence of sunlight.

A server with RWS software is installed in the control room, which collects and organises in a Data Base all the information relating to the efficiency of the SOS columns and the operations carried out on them; one or more terminals on which the RWS CLIENT software is installed are available to display this information and to interact with the SOS pillar.

In addition, the RWS can be interfaced with third-party supervision systems so that it can be integrated with the information centralisation systems in use on roads and motorways.

The LTE/4G emergency call station

If the LTE/4G connection between the SOS columns and the central control post is used, the composition of the latter does not undergo any significant changes in the structure and management of the system, as the only changes relate to the way in which the connection is made; in particular, the connection between the columns and the central server is made via a VPN and consequently the audio communications will be carried out in VoIP mode.

Thanks to the higher bandwidth of the LTE/4G connection, emergency call units can implement useful additional functions, such as the integration of a CCTV camera in the SOS column to view the person making the call or the areas surrounding the installation point at the central control post as well as to add a P.A. loudspeaker to the SOS pillara in order to make announcemets on the remote site from the control room.
Other possible implementations may include the integration of environmental sensors such as those to detect temperature, rain, wind or, especially in tunnel applications, hazardous gases.
